Just a waste of time, it is still a dump even 10 years after my last visit.

The rooms were disappointing and small, The front desk staff were ok but the casino dealers were rude! When I tried to walk away from a table the dealer badgered me to stay at the table and gamble more and when I refused he gave me some serious attitude.

The only positive thing about the Tropicana is the new Marketplace at the Boardwalk located on the casino level near the boardwalk which features a Hooters and Corky's BBQ which has excellent food and in the morning instead of going to the awful buffet I went to Starbucks for some coffee to wake me and my wife up.

While I thought the exact same thing as Mark from Washington DC about the big wasted space in the bathrooms (where you could almost park a car).....I was told by someone there that it has to be that way to accomodate wheelchairs! Now it makes sense!

Service was good, rooms were ok, but I'm ashamed to admit that we paid over $300 for one nights stay! No hotel is worth that, especially not the Tropicana! We were desperate because it was last minute so I guess I can't complain! But they have a hell of a nerve to charge that much for this hotel. The rooms were just average. The breakfeast buffet was awful!! And not cheap!!! Everything was ice cold! Even the eggs! The bread and muffins were kind of hard and stale. We spent so much money in this hotel! However, the staff was very nice. The casino was awful. We went with four people and none of us could do anything! (But that could just be bad luck and not the casino's fault.) But we decided to take a break and relax in the lounge but it was so jammed. We walked around looking for another lounge but were told that was the only one in the hotel! So we waited for people to get up so we could sit. And it was 2:00 in the morning! We were sitting 15 minutes and they said last call, so we had to leave! We seemed to have no luck with anything we tried to do in this hotel. So all in all, I don't think I would ever stay here again. I highly recommend Bally's. They treat you really well there!

The experience started poorly. I arrived in the evening and there were only two people running the check-in. There were various check-in lines cordoned off, but they weren't being adhered to. This really speaks more about the clientele's manners, but the overall layout was chaotic and unwelcoming. After about 15 minutes I was able to check in (even though there were only 2 parties ahead of me when I arrived). The king bed I had requested when I made the reservation wasn't available. I ended up with a room with 2 queen beds instead. That was OK, but still not what I had reserved. My room was in the West Tower. Try to avoid it. It overlooked the construction site. This didn't bother me since I wasn't planning on spending much time in the room anyway. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious. Most of that was empty floorspace though. It would have been very nice to use some of that space to allow for a larger shower/bathtub. The casino was what I had expected. All the dealers at the tables I played were friendly. Most of my casino time was late night/ early morning. I sat at a table at 8am and asked if it could be a non-smoking table. They were happy to accomodate me. I did spend most of my time at other casinos, and the walk to and from them was enjoyable. If I spend the night in Atlantic City again, I will try to stay somewhere else.

What a horrible experience! Check-in was easy, but the room was small, depressing and extremely noisy, due to the couple next door who had a never-ending fight all night, complete with screaming and throwing things against the wall. I complained the next day and was moved to another room, only to have it be surrounded with renovation construction noise! When I called the front desk, they told me they knew there was construction going on, and when i told them why I was moved there in the first place, I got a chuckle. I immediately spoke with the manager in person about this terrible service and he refunded all my money for the 2 night stay, which was good but I'll never stay there again. Oh yes, beware families.....when looking out my window I saw more than a few "working girls" in the windows of other rooms plying their trade. Also, the casino was bad too. The slots were the tightest I've ever seen....didn't win a cent. Once again, a rotten experience.

The first problem was with check in, they did not have the room we booked. When I booked it we told them it was our honeymoon so we wanted a room with a beach view and 1 king size bed, we ended up with a view of the slums of A.C. and 2 queen beds. Next was the cable and movie channels being out over 50% of our stay. Then there was no availability for a reservation for one of the hotels restaurants (we ate at hooters, the only facility in Trop that could get us a seat). When we were on the casino floor, the slot machine my wife was playing ran out of dollars. We waited for an attendant for 20 minutes, I eventually had to physically grab a guy byn the arm to get the machine refilled so she could get her money from it. The final straw was check out, where the clerk triple charged the room to our credit card. He said he had taken them off, but there they all were on our statement, took two hours of my time to get them to issue a credit to my account. Overall I wouldn`t send a condemned man here, it wouldn`t be humane.

The Trop's casino is first rate as far as bang for your buck! A huge selection of games to choose from. A couple of complaints, however - the casino is always pretty dirty. More staff is desperately needed - you almost always have to move a full ashtray or used cocktail glass before playing a machine and it takes forever to get your winnings or change. The hotel rooms are small and frequently have a stale smoky or disinfectant odor. If you go, stay in the South Tower only - it has the best ocean views and best access to the casino and restaurants. Go for the gaming, not for the hotel room.
